Who We Are

A.F.I.Y.U. Enterprise was born out of a deep desire to be a part of the solution to the issues surrounding young black boys in our communities.

We are in a society where boys face many unique challenges and at AFIYU our aim is to teach them values from an early age that will produce in them self love, respect and understanding of others.

This along with essential skills will enable them to do great things for themselves and also make a substantial impact in their community.

AFIYU Father's Day Brunch and Golf Fundraiser

An awesome day of fun and food as we had yesterday as we celebrated the amazing dads at the  AFIYU Father’s Day Brunch and Golf Fundraiser. We are happy to highlight men who are positive influences in their families. And thank them for their support. And not to be outdone, the women showed up and showed out for the golf! Awesome day!

Live Your Potential

Our Mission

To provide resources and mentorship to African-Canadian boys ages 6 – 16 to equip them with life skills that will enable them to be successful, contributing members of society.

Our Vision

To create a society where young boys of colour no longer live under the stigma placed upon them by others therefore enabling them the opportunity to live to their full potential.

Our Goal

Our goal is to teach them values that will produce in them love and acceptance of themselves, self worth, respect and empathy for others along with coping mechanisms that will get them through life’s adversities. We believe that training in these life skills along with support and guidance can produce successful men of the future.

We wish to say a huge “Thank You” to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program for awarding us a grant to run AFIYU’s 15-week soccer program! We are truly thrilled to get this funding that will enable us to provide a full-season soccer program that is affordable to parents of youth in Durham and surrounding areas. Our program will provide the youth with soccer gear at no expense to them.

The Jumpstart program’s mission is to enrich the lives of kids in need through sport and physical activity and they provide funding to organizations as well as families to get kids active. Founded in 2005, Jumpstart helps kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in an effort to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities.
