How the program works:
After registering, a Program Coordinator will be in contact to work with you and your child to assess needs and in what areas a mentor will be beneficial. You will be recommended to partake in group mentoring sessions where mentors can be matched with mentees.
Some factors that will be considered in the mentor/mentee placement:
• Primary needs of mentee
• Area of residence and proximity to mentor
• Age and maturity
• Parental or guardian involvement and support
• School involvement
• Ability to form and maintain a healthy, safe relationship
** Please be aware that mentors are NOT Social Workers, therapists, counselors, parents or babysitters.
Our expectation of a mentor is to become a friend and set a positive and healthy example.
